In the upcoming school year, the Ministry of Interior in the UAE is urging drivers to take a pledge to enhance road safety in the country. Their national awareness campaign, known as ‘Accident-Free Day’, is designed to guarantee a seamless and accident-free first day of school on August 26. By participating in this initiative, drivers have the opportunity to reduce four black points from their licenses.

What are black points?
Traffic points, also known as black points, are penalties given for certain traffic violations and are recorded on a driver’s license. While minor infractions such as speeding slightly over the limit or improper parking may result in fines, more serious offenses can also result in the accumulation of black points.
A driver can receive anywhere from four to 24 black points depending on the severity of the violation. If a driver accumulates 24 black points and commits another offense, the case will be escalated to the UAE courts, potentially leading to the suspension or confiscation of their license.
