Residents and employees in Business Bay now have a convenient and efficient way to navigate the area. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reintroduced abra services, allowing individuals to travel to popular destinations such as Marasi, Dubai Water Canal, and Dubai Design District.
The service, which resumed on Wednesday, October 23, aims to serve the residential areas surrounding Dubai Water Canal and Business Bay. With two lines operating, passengers can easily access key tourist attractions in the vicinity.
By opting for the abra service, commuters can bypass heavy traffic during peak hours while also benefiting from an economical fare of just Dh2 per ride. Additionally, passengers can relish the picturesque views offered during their journey.
DC2 Route
The following marine transport stations along the Dubai Canal allow easy travel within Business Bay:
- Al Wajeha Al Maeyah Marine Transport Station
• Marasi Marine Transport Station
• Business Bay Marine Transport Station
• Godolphin Marine Transport Station
• Sheikh Zayed Road Marine Transport Station
Operating hours
The abra runs at intervals of 30 to 50 minutes, with the following schedule:
• Monday to Saturday: 8am to 10pm
• Sunday: 10am to 10pm
DC3 Route
This line connects:
- Al Jaddaf Marine Transport Station
- Dubai Design District Marine Transport Station
The route offers a convenient connection between these areas, particularly for individuals seeking to access the Metro. The Al Jaddaf Metro Station on the Green Line is situated near the Al Jaddaf Marine Transport Station, making it easily accessible for commuters.
Tickets
To board the abra, tickets can be conveniently purchased from the ticketing and information offices located at all marine stations. Payment can be made using various methods including cash, Nol card, credit, or debit cards. For those looking to avoid waiting in line, tickets can also be booked online through the RTA website at marine.rta.ae. Here’s a simple guide on how to do so:
– Visit marine.rta.ae, choose your desired area such as Dubai Canal, then select abra and your preferred route from the drop-down menu.
– Indicate the number of passengers and click ‘Continue’.
– Provide your full name, email address, and mobile number. Proceed to click ‘Continue’ to complete the online payment process.
Upon successful payment, the ticket will be promptly sent to your email. Simply display the ticket on your phone at the marine station, where an RTA staff member will scan the QR code for validation.
It’s important to note that children under the age of five and People of Determination are eligible to travel free of charge.

For a truly picturesque experience, the RTA offers a petrol heritage abra service that takes passengers on a tour of the Dubai Water Canal and city skyline for just Dh25 per person. This traditional boat ride highlights iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, Business Bay Canal, and Dubai Water Canal, providing a unique perspective of the city’s beauty.
