According to the Developed Neighborhoods Committee in Jeddah, Saudi residents of the neighborhoods that were demolished for the city’s redevelopment have received rent payments totaling SR889.5 million from October 2021 to the present.
The Makkah region emirate said on Sunday in a statement posted on its X account that more than 112,800 free government services, such as food baskets, medication, meals, baby formula, and furniture transportation, were given to the people living in these neighborhoods.
Additionally, 2,977 male and female citizens received jobs, 24,848 families received housing allocations, and 3,197 development housing units were given to recipients.
Remarkably, the committee started compensating residents whose properties were destroyed as part of the city’s massive development project in June 2022. The municipal authorities in the city have assessed over thirty districts for demolition, alteration, or restoration; the government has offered services to the owners of the destroyed properties.
