Choosing the right nursery for your child is a crucial decision. Before you embark on your search in Abu Dhabi, familiarising yourself with the enrolment process ensures a smooth transition for both you and your little one. To make it easier for parents, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has identified specific procedures that should be completed during the enrolment process. Here’s a look at the basic guidelines.
How does the registration take place?
According to ADEK, registration occurs directly at the nursery, and each has an admission policy that complies with the department’s laws and regulations.
Understanding the requirements
Eligibility: Children must be under four years old when they register.
Documents Required:
- Completed registration form (including child information, enrollment date, and contact information).
- Copies of the child’s Emirates identification and birth certificate.
- Original Emirates IDs for the child and parents for verification during registration.
- Individual nurseries may request additional documents (for example, a tenancy contract or immunization records for the child).
Enrolment fees for Abu Dhabi nurseries
It’s important to note that enrolment fees vary by nursery. Each institution determines its fees within the guidelines established by ADEK. Nurseries must submit fee structures or proposed increases for approval within the first four months of each year. Parents are notified of any fee changes well in advance, ensuring transparency.
According to ADEK, nurseries must submit their fees or requests for fee increases to the department for approval between January and the end of April each year. If approved, the fees will be applied in September of the same year.
Nurseries cannot apply for a fee increase request until they have been in operation for three years, or three years after their last increment approval.
