Even the prospect of being present in an emergency circumstance such as a sudden cardiac arrest, a choking incident, or a drowning scare can be stressful. In such situations, however, having the essential skills and expertise to perform first aid might be the difference between life and death.
You can sign up for a first aid and rescue training course through Abu Dhabi’s TAMM platform, which is the Abu Dhabi government services portal if you wish to learn this vital life skill.
The Abu Dhabi Police’s Directorate of Emergency and Public Safety conducts first aid training sessions for residents and citizens above the age of 16.
Which courses can one take?
The following are the courses that can be enrolled in through the Tamm website:
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
This course is developed exclusively for CPR certification. CPR, or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, is a life-saving therapy administered when the heart stops beating, according to the American Heart Association. After a cardiac arrest, immediate CPR can double or triple the chances of survival.
- Three hours
- Cost: Dh300
Basic Life Support (BLS)
This course will teach you how to do CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and ECC (Emergency Cardiovascular Care) on anyone who has suffered a cardiac arrest (ECC).
- Four hours
- Cost: Dh400
Pediatric Emergency Assessment
Participants will learn how to diagnose and recognize respiratory crises, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest, as well as how to administer appropriate lifesaving measures.
- Seven hours
- Cost: Dh500
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a small, portable device that shocks the heart with an electric shock delivered via the chest. According to the American Heart Association, the shock might potentially stop an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) and allow a normal heart rhythm to recover following sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).
- Four hours
- Cost: Dh300
Advanced training for medical staff, such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, is also available on the Internet.
