If you’re looking for public transportation in Dubai, you have a variety of options to choose from, including buses, taxis, metros, and trams. Careem Bike, a one-of-a-kind bike-sharing service in Dubai, was recently launched by the Roads and Transport Authority in collaboration with Careem.
The RTA and Careem inked a long-term year contract in 2019, with the goal of Careem installing and operating 3,500 bicycles from 350 stations over the next five years.
Phase II has so far seen 1,750 bikes installed at 175 stations. Careem Bike has done 1,592 million journeys as of February 2022. As a result, the project is regarded a huge success.
What Is Careem Bike and How Does It Work?
Careem Bike, which uses solar-powered docks and the latest smart technology to assure seamless operations, is now available to anyone searching for bike rentals in Dubai. Pedals and kinetic energy are used to drive these vehicles.
To use Careem Bike in Dubai, follow these steps:
- Create an account with Careem Bike by downloading the app.
- Purchase a package that meets your needs (details below)
- Go to a Careem Bike dock near you in Dubai.
- Use the QR code in the app to unlock a bicycle.
- In the dock, enter the 5-digit code from the app.
- Take off on your motorcycle.

Memberships and Bike Prices at Careem
Careem Bikes are offered for rent in Dubai on a membership basis, with yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily packages available. To choose the bundle that best meets your needs, download the app from Google Play or the App Store.
Please Note:
- These figures are for a certain time period.
- A ride can last up to 45 minutes at most. For every further 30 minutes, there will be an additional AED 10 charge.
- You can take as many 45-minute journeys as you want with any package.
- Once you’ve signed up for the service, you can use it as many times as you like while your subscription is active.
- Any ride session that lasts more than 60 minutes will be charged an overtime cost of AED 20 per hour.
- Once the session has ended, users can return the Careem Bike to the nearest Careem Bike stand and dock it.
- Users of the Careem Bike must be at least 15 years old.
Safety Measures for Careem Bikes
The RTA wants all Careem Bike riders to follow the safety guidelines specified in Executive Resolution 468/2019 and Executive Council Law 10/2015. Bicyclists must comply with the following laws and regulations:
- Bicycles should never be used on roads with top speeds of 60 km/h or more.
- Wear a luminous vest and a helmet to protect yourself.
- At crosswalks, get off your bike.
- Only ride when seated in a bicycle seat.
- Do not attempt to grab or touch a moving vehicle.
- Park bicycles in such a way that motorists and pedestrians are not inconvenienced.
- Keep to the right side of the bicycle track.
- Maintain a safe space between yourself and pedestrians and cars.
- Follow all traffic and road signs at all times.
- When cycling, avoid wearing two-ear headsets.
- It is not a good idea to ride against the flow of traffic.
