Many drivers often leave their cars idling while running errands, without realizing the potential risks and fines involved. This habit not only adds to air pollution but also creates a safety hazard.
To raise awareness, Abu Dhabi Police utilized their social media platforms to remind individuals about the importance of not leaving their vehicles running unattended while carrying out tasks.
The department cited Article 5, Clause 4 of the Traffic Rules, which stipulates that the driver “must refrain from stopping the vehicle in places where parking is prohibited, and if forced to stop it on the road, the driver must take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of movement on the road, and must not leave the vehicle with its engine running and ensure that it does not move during the driver’s absence.”
According to Article 70 of the law, failure to comply with traffic signs and directions by vehicle drivers will result in a fine of Dh500.

According to the Federal Traffic Law, driving with expired tires can result in a penalty of Dh500, four black points on your driving license, and your vehicle being impounded for seven days.
