To streamline the nation’s real estate market, the Ministry of Justice, through the Real Estate Brokerage Department, has licensed 610 real estate brokers thus far.

The increasing number of licensed brokers demonstrates the ministry’s effectiveness in reducing the number of unlicensed brokers and speculative activity that taints the reputation of the real estate industry.

The Ministry of Justice’s website provides a list of licensed real estate brokers along with their license numbers and mobile and email contact information, making it simple for buyers and sellers of real estate to get in touch with them for their services.

Doha Municipality has issued licenses to 340 brokers, while Al Rayan Municipality has issued 163 licenses.

In Umm Salal Municipality, a total of 47 brokers have been granted licenses, while in Al Daayen Municipality, 32 licenses have been granted. Additionally, the ministry licensed sixteen real estate brokers in the municipalities of Al Wakra, Al Khor, and Al Zakhira, five in Al Shamal, one in Al Sheehaniya, and six in Al Khor and Al Zakhira.

Ibrahim Saleh Al Qadi, the head of the Ministry of Justice’s Control and Auditing Section of the Real Estate Brokers Department, stated that a license is required for real estate brokers to conduct business in Qatar.

In an interview with Al Rayan TV recently, he stated that to get a license, prospective applicants must visit the Real Estate Brokers Department website and submit an application along with all required paperwork.

“The department assesses the applications for approval and refers them to the Legal and Judicial Studies Center where the approved candidates undergo a training course to acquaint them with the law related to their rights and duties,” said Al Qadi.

According to him, the brokers must take an oath in front of the Committee for Real Estate Brokers, which is chaired by Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice for Real Estate Registration and Documentation, after completing the course.

“After taking an oath, the brokers pay fees and start work,” said Al Qadi.

He said that both individuals and businesses are granted real estate brokerage licenses by the ministry.

“The Law No. 22 of 2017 on Regulating the Real Estate Brokerage Works stipulates that a written contract should be made between the broker and property owner or those seeking the brokerage service,” said Al Qadi.

Between August 11 and August 15, 2024, the Department of Real Estate Registration at the Ministry of Justice recorded a volume of real estate trading in sales contracts of QR164,585,647, while the Real Estate Bulletin recorded a total of QR19,545,642 in sales contracts for residential units during the same period.

The department’s weekly bulletin reveals that houses, apartments, and vacant land were among the real estate properties traded for sale.

In addition to the Pearl Island, Lusail 69, Al Kharayej, Legtaifiya, and Al Dafna 60 Zones, the sales were documented in the municipalities of Al Rayyan, Umm Slal, Doha, Al Khor and Al Dakhira, Al Wakrah, Al Daayen, and Al Shamal.
