As part of a government initiative to provide citizens with high-quality homes, Abu Dhabi has unveiled a massive housing development that will give over 300 new homes to Emiratis.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has opened the AED1.1 billion ($299 million) Al Wathba housing project, which consists of 347 homes.
Part of the “Emirati Neighbourhood Initiative”, the project has been developed “with the highest international standards” and it features sustainable designs that seek to improve the citizens’ overall wellbeing and quality of life, according to a statement.
The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority has given recipients more than 39,000 residential plots and more than 16,000 new homes since its founding. Delivered housing benefits have totaled AED 141 billion ($38.4 billion) to date.
The most recent housing allocation spans 875,000 square meters and contains a number of community amenities, including 64 stores and four commercial complexes. In addition, there are four mosques with space for 1,725 people and fifteen parks within the development.
“The Al Wathba housing project signifies the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority’s commitment to delivering the leadership’s directives,” said Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority.
“This initiative stands as a cornerstone in guaranteeing citizens’ access to quality housing.”
The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority has authorized over 44,000 home loans since its founding and helped 4,000 recipients receive housing loan exemptions.
Asteco reports that the third quarter of the year saw the delivery of 1,000 residential units throughout multiple communities in Abu Dhabi’s real estate market.
