- With more flights, new hotels, and an expanding event calendar, Ras Al Khaimah is quickly becoming one of the UAE’s most popular vacation destinations.
- The Emirate saw a record 654,000 visitors in the first half of 2025, the most in a six-month span. The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) reports that the number indicates a 9% growth in tourism income and a 6% increase in arrivals year over year, underscoring the destination’s momentum as a rapidly expanding travel destination.
“These half-year achievements are a clear testament to the strength of Ras Al Khaimah’s tourism offering,” said Raki Phillips, CEO of RAKTDA. “Every milestone contributes to our goal of welcoming 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030.”
Air connectivity drives growth
The increased international aviation connectivity was essential to the performance. Significant expansion was made possible by new direct flights from Poland, Romania, Uzbekistan, Belarus, and the Czech Republic to Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, particularly from:
- Romania (+65%)
- Poland (+56%)
- Uzbekistan (+47%)
- Belarus (+30%)
Visitor numbers also hit half-year records from India (+25%), China (+9.2%), UK (+5%), and Russia (+7%).
Big hotel boost to hospitality pipeline
By 2030, the hotel infrastructure in Ras Al Khaimah is expected to have more than doubled in size. Several well-known hotel developments were confirmed in H1 2025 alone:
- Four Seasons Resort & Residences Ras Al Khaimah
- Fairmont Al Marjan Island
- Taj Wellington Mews Al Marjan Island
- NH Collection Ras Al Khaimah Al Marjan Island
The recently opened Rove Al Marjan Island, which caters to tourists on a budget and interested in lifestyle, significantly varied the Emirate’s lodging options.
More deals expand market reach
Through several collaborations, RAKTDA persisted in its strategic effort to increase Ras Al Khaimah’s tourism appeal:
An idea for inter-Emirate itineraries in collaboration with Fujairah Adventures
Contracts with Tongcheng, Trip.com, and other significant Chinese online travel agencies
Four leading Saudi OTAs have formed new partnerships to meet GCC demand.
A Memorandum of Understanding with Huawei to improve digital tourism
An Open World Web3 trial to investigate blockchain-based travel incentives
Key events anchor lifestyle appeal
Additionally, events were crucial in increasing brand awareness and traffic. The first half of the Emirate’s calendar included:
The RAK Half Marathon, which attracts more than 10,000 runners and spectators
With its famous Jebel Jais mountain stage, the UAE Tour
The RAK Championship of the DP World Tour at Al Hamra Golf Club
The hiking series HIGHLANDER
The launch of the arduous 25-kilometer uphill cycling adventure known as the Jais Ride
Notably, foreign incentive groups and destination weddings drove a 36% year-over-year increase in MICE and wedding tourism revenues.
With a clear long-term goal and strong short-term outcomes, Ras Al Khaimah is solidifying its place as one of the most vibrant travel destinations in the United Arab Emirates. With the help of connectivity, infrastructure, and international brand alliances, the Emirate’s tourist goals are growing steadily and strategically.
