Traveling with more than Dh60,000 in cash? Here’s how to fill out an online disclosure form

If you’re traveling internationally, you’ll need to bring cash with you. You must ensure that the sum is less than Dh60,000, as any amount over that must be notified to the airport’s customs department.

Abu Dhabi Airport alerted travelers about this need and gave an online option they can use to minimize delays at the airport in a post on their social media networks.

So, if you want to travel with cash, here’s all you need to know about when you need to disclose it and how to do so.

When does one need to declare the cash that one is carrying?

If a passenger is carrying currency, travelers’ checks, interchangeable financial items, high-value products, or diamonds worth more than Dh60,000, he or she must complete the financial disclosure form. This also applies to currencies other than dirhams.

How can one fill out the form online?

The Abu Dhabi government services – www.tamm.abudhabi – can be used to fill out the e-financial disclosure form. Fill out the following steps to apply for a financial disclosure online:

1. To use the TAMM portal’s ‘Cash Disclosure’ service, go to https://www.tamm.abudhabi/en/aspects-of-life/importingexporting/CustomsClearanceandDisclosures/Customs-Disclosures/DisclosureofCash. To register, you do not need an existing TAMM account or a UAE Pass.
2. To complete the financial disclosure form, click the start button.
3. After that, choose your currency.
4. Then, from the drop-down option, choose the ‘purpose of the disclosure.’ Personal, purchase of commodities, medical treatment, or travel is just a few examples.
5. Enter the amount (it must be greater than Dh60,000) and click the ‘next’ button below.
6. You will next be prompted to provide your ‘transport details,’ which are your flight information.
7. Select whether you want to enter or exit, and then fill in the following information:

• Custom code (optional)
• Traveler type
• Port of entry
• Country of origin
• Transportation type
• Full name and mobile number
• Next, enter the type of disclosure – company or personal.

8. After you’ve filled in the flight information, enter in your personal information:

• Type your full name in English. The Arabic version of your name will be automatically filled in.
• Date of Birth
• Place of birth
• Document type for identification – license, passport, and Emirates ID
• ID number
• Passport number
• Nationality
• Mobile number
• Job description – choose from drop-down menu
• Email address

9. The application will then ask you to fill in additional information:

• Your address in the UAE or home country
• UAE Sponsor information
• UAE Sponsor name
• UID number (Unified Number)

10. Once you have filled out the additional information, upload the following:

• Emirates ID or
• Valid passport copy

11. After that, you’ll be able to review the details and make a submission request.

12. You must display the e-disclosure form to the Customs representative at the airport after the application has been submitted and authorized.

13. Make use of cashless transactions.

While it is possible to fly with cash, Abu Dhabi Airport advises travelers to use credit or debit cards instead. In the event that a passenger needs access to substantial sums of money, the airport administration also advised using bank transfers.

Traveling through Dubai Airport

Passengers arriving and departing from Dubai Airport are subject to the law about disclosing cash and valuables worth more than Dh60,000.

Dubai Customs declared in 2021 that all arriving and leaving travelers aged 18 and up must register their money, whether it is in cash, cheques, or valuable jewelry, only if it is worth more than Dh60,000.

How do one declare goods and cash in Dubai?

The Dubai Customs smartphone application iDeclare, which is available for both Android and Apple devices, allows you to declare cash and possessions worth more than Dh60,000 online.

How to use the iDeclare App

1. After you’ve downloaded the app, tap the ‘Check Eligibility’ button.
2. Select ‘cash, foreign currencies, and travelers’ cheques totaling or equivalent to Dh60,000 or more from the drop-down menu and press the ‘Check now’ button.
3. Finally, press the ‘Declare Now’ button.
4. After that enter your passport details:

• Full Name
• Date of Birth
• Nationality
• Passport number
• Expiry date
• Issuing country

5. Add in other personal details such as:

• Occupation
• Visa type
• Place of Birth

6. Then add in your address details:

• Country of Residence.
• Address in the UAE.
• Mobile number and email address.

You must then submit the form on the app after filling out the following information. You must produce the form to the Dubai Customs Representative at the airport once it has been approved.
