If you have had to discontinue using an e-scooter as part of your regular Metro commute, there is now an alternative ‘last-mile’ solution available to help you reach your home or office – the ‘Bus on Demand’ service.

Introduced in 2020 by Dubai’s Roads and Transportation (RTA) Authority, the Bus On-Demand service is a ride-pooling option that enables residents to travel within specific community areas in Dubai. Mini bus drivers are able to communicate with passengers through the app to determine the closest pick-up and drop-off locations within the Bus on Demand network. This service is particularly beneficial for public transport users who do not have a bus stop conveniently located near their office or home.

By utilizing the Bus on Demand service, commuters can enjoy a more convenient and efficient way to navigate around Dubai, ensuring a seamless and stress-free travel experience.

How can one use the service?

Step 1: Download the Dubai Bus On Demand app

To access the Dubai Bus On Demand service, simply download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Step 2: Enter your information

After downloading the app, you will need to provide your personal details such as your first name, last name, email address, and mobile number. Upon entering this information, you will receive a one-time password (OTP) from RTA to verify your identity.

Step 3: Input payment information

Choose your preferred payment method, either through a credit card or nol card.

Step 4: Choose your route

The app allows users to select specific areas where the bus on-demand service is available. If you are outside of these zones, the app will indicate that you are ‘out of zone’. Select your current location and then choose your desired drop-off point.

Step 5: Confirm your ride

The app will provide an estimated time for the bus to reach you, the duration of the ride, and the cost. Once you confirm your location, the app will offer directions to the nearest pick-up spot.

Cost of the trip

  • Dh5 for single rides (within the zone)
    • Dh7 for singles rides (inter-zone)
    • Dh4 for each additional passenger.

Which Metro stations are connected with the Bus on Demand network?

If you use the following Metro stations, you will be able to continue your journey using the Bus on Demand network:

  • Al Nahda (Green Line)
    • Business Bay (Red Line)
    • Mashreq (Red Line)
    • Mall of the Emirates (Red Line)
    • Stadium (Green Line)

In which other areas of Dubai can one use the Bus on Demand Service?

Even if you do not typically use the Metro system, you can still take advantage of the Bus on Demand service to conveniently travel within the designated residential areas listed below:

  • Al Barsha 1, 2 and 3
    • Dubai Silicon Oasis
    • Al Nahda
    • Academic City
    • Dubai Silicon Oasis
    • Business Bay

Timings:

  • Monday to Thursday – 5am to 12am
