If you have a criminal case pending in the UAE, or certain civil or commercial matters pending in the country, a judge may impose travel restrictions on you until the case is resolved.
You can, however, petition the Ministry of Justice to have your travel ban lifted.
This service is available online from the Ministry of Justice and can be used by the individual or his or her lawyer. Here are the specifics on how to submit the request.
Step 1: Submit Case Request
To submit your request, follow these steps:
– Go to the Ministry of Justice’s website, moj.gov.ae, and select the ‘Cancellation Request of Travel Ban Order’ service request. Alternatively, go to https://www.moj.gov.ae/en/services/services-categories/general/cancellation-request-of-travel-ban-order.aspx to contact the service directly.
– Select ‘Start service’ from the drop-down menu.
– Log in using your UAE Pass credentials.
– After that, you’ll be taken to your personal dashboard.
– Go to ‘Case Management’ and select ‘My Cases.’ The page will provide you with a list of instances that are relevant to you.
– To view the details of a case, click on the eye icon.
– You’ll notice that you have various alternatives, including ‘add lawyer, “remove lawyer,’ and ‘request.’ Select’request’ from the drop-down menu.
– Complete the form, which asks for information about the request as well as the case. The possibilities you see under ‘request name’ may vary depending on the type of case, according to the Ministry of Justice. Some requests may also be subject to a fee. Once the request has been made and paid for, it will be routed for approval. Some requests may need to be approved by a judge.
– Attach the necessary documentation.
– Press the Submit button.
Step 2: Pay for the request
After you’ve submitted your request, you’ll be required to make any necessary payments, which can vary depending on your situation. Follow these steps to figure out how much you owe:
– Go to the dashboard and enter the reference number for your application.
– In the right-hand corner of the screen, click on the box with a checkmark.
– A page will appear with information on the amount you must pay. Continue by clicking the ‘Continue’ button.
– To make a payment, enter your credit card information.
Step 3: View or print the request
To print the request, follow these instructions.
– Go to ‘Case Management – My Cases’ on your own dashboard.
– To open the case files, click the eye icon.
– Go to the Documents section and click the file link to download the PDF file so you can print it.
The application will be processed within five working days, according to the Ministry of Justice’s website. The travel prohibition will be lifted if it is authorised. Your case dashboard allows you to track the status of your request online.
