Are you a resident of the UAE? Are you going to have a baby soon? What documents and other formalities are required for the new member? We are here in order to answer all such questions.
Let’s begin:
For Emirates citizens:
Emirates citizens can use the integrated e-Service (Mabrouk Ma Yak service) to acquire the following documents for their newborn baby soon:
- A birth certificate
- An Emirates ID card
- Thiqa or insurance
- Passport
What all things are required in order to use Mabrouk Ma Yak services?
The parent of the newborn is required to apply for the service within three months after the baby is born. The newborn’s name will be registered in the country’s population register. Furthermore:
- The father must be a citizen of the UAE.
- The wife’s name must be added to the family book.
- The father must have a verified UAE pass account.
Other than all these requirements the baby must be born in hospitals that are authorized to provide the Mabrouk Ma Yak services along with:
- Family book.
- Valid Emirates ID of both parents.
- Marriage certificates (if the baby is a women’s firstborn).
Passport:
Emirati parents can apply for a newborn baby’s passport application in the UAE through:
- General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs/ Citizen Departments.
- Website of the Ministry of Interior.
Birth certificate:
The Emirati parents can get the birth certificate directly from the hospital if the baby is born in the government hospital whereas if the baby is born in a private hospital they have different procedures i.e. the private hospital will issue a “notification of birth” written in Arabic. After this, the parents are required to apply for the birth certificate through the relevant health authorities in their emirates or the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP).
For Expats residents:
Birth certificate:
The ex-pat residents of newborns are required to apply for a child’s birth certificate within a month.
Documents required:
The ex-pat parents are required to submit the following documents at the hospital of birth or at their emirate’s health authority:
- The discharge summary from the hospital.
- Birth notification details from the hospital.
- Attested marriage certificate(in Arabic).
- Original as well as copies of passport.
- Original as well as copies of Residence visas of wife and husband.
- The birth certificate of the ex-pats which are required to be attested by these government authorities:-
- 1. Ministry of Foreign affairs and International Corporation.
- 2. Ministry of Health and Prevention.
Passport:
Expatriate residents can apply for passports for the newborn baby by their pertinent foreign embassies in the UAE. Once the birth certificate is attested by the authorities.
Emirates ID and residence visa:
The parents can apply for Emirates ID and residence visa at a typing center or they can apply for it online through the Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (FIAC).
For Dubai, the parents are required to visit an Amer center.
Documents required at the Amer center:
- Copy of spouse’s and sponsor’s passport with valid and stamped residence visa.
- Attested birth certificate of the newborn.
- Copy of registered tenancy contract.
- A passport-size photo of the baby (with white background and eyes open).
- Emirates ID of the sponsor (original).
Amer center takes about two days in order to process the request or the application. The visa will be mailed on the registered mail id.
One can have Emirates ID typed in an Amer Centre or a FIAC center with these mandatory documents:
- One’s original Emirates ID.
- Emirates ID application of the newborn.
- Family photograph with all members.
In order to get the baby’s residency visa stamped on the passport. The parent (or parents) is required to visit an Amer or typing center along with:
- Original passport of the newborn baby.
- Health insurance documents.
- Emirates ID (original) of the sponsor.
