Come rain or shine, residents and visitors in Dubai can now stay cool or dry with a complimentary umbrella! Commuters using public transportation in Dubai can grab a free umbrella at Al Ghubaiba Metro Station and Al Ghubaiba Bus Station.

These umbrellas are generously provided by UmbraCity, a Canadian rental umbrella company, in partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This initiative aligns with Dubai’s 2040 vision to enhance the city’s walkability.

Currently, the free umbrellas are available at Al Ghubaiba Metro and Bus Station, with plans to expand to other public locations such as offices, malls, and beyond.

Crafted from recycled materials, these umbrellas offer Ultraviolet (UV) protection and can lower the temperature underneath by up to six degrees. Stay cool and protected with a free umbrella in Dubai!

Where are the free umbrellas located?

  • Al Ghubaiba Metro Station – Exit 1
    • Al Ghubaiba Bus Station – Block F

How does it work?

Here is a simple guide on how to obtain your complimentary umbrella at these designated stations:

Step 1 – Upon arrival at the automated rental kiosk, kindly scan your NOL card. Rest assured, no charges will be deducted from your card at this stage. This step is solely to register your account for the umbrella service.

Step 2 – Utilize the touchscreen interface on the kiosk to input essential information such as your full name and mobile number.

Step 3 – Proceed to enter your credit card or debit card details. While the umbrella is provided free of charge, it is only available for 24 hours. You must return the umbrella to either of the two stations within this timeframe.

Step 4 – Upon completion of using the umbrella, kindly return it to the rental kiosk. Failure to return the umbrella within the specified 24-hour window will result in a predetermined fee being charged to your account.

What if one doesn’t return the umbrella?

If the umbrella is not returned within 24 hours, you will incur charges on your credit or debit card as follows:

Free for 24 hours.
Dh10 for one day.
Maximum Dh50 for five days.

After the five days, you can keep the umbrella
