Dubai: In the UAE, every driver is deeply aware of the massive fines that can result from exceeding the speed limit or not paying for parking. Authorities in the UAE use traffic fines to ensure the safety of motorists and commuters. If, by bad luck or poor driving skills, you happen to rack up a few fines, here are the different ways you can pay them.

Online payment

Making payments through a website will require a credit or debit card. The Ministry of Interior offers this service on its website, but each emirate has its own website where you can pay fines you have received in the UAE.

You can also pay traffic fines using the following apps:

Payment machines/kiosks

  • There are also several payment machines in the UAE that allow users to pay traffic fines. These could be from any of the following authorities:
  • Ministry of Interior
  • Traffic department
  • Police authority
  • Municipal authority
  • Services across the UAE have become increasingly automated and centralized, which allows users to pay fines from any of the authorities above.

Are there any fines I cannot pay online?

In some cases, it is possible to receive black points for violations.

In the event of a black point/s, a driver’s license must be presented in order for the black points to be recorded. In some emirates, you can pay your fine online, with the user keying in their license details. In other emirates, you must visit the traffic department.
