The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) of the United Arab Emirates has introduced a facility that enables visitors with valid visas to extend those visas online.
Foreign nationals are granted visit visas, a sort of entry permit, allowing them to enter the UAE for a variety of purposes, including travel, medical treatment, or education.
As per the ICP website, this new service allows for the extension of this visit visa. “The extension period depends on the type of entry permit issued in terms of duration and the number of times the extension request can be submitted,” the website stated.
What is visa validity?
The duration of a specific visa’s validity is the period during which you can travel. You have 60 days to travel from the time your visa is granted. The visa expires after 60 days. If you believe you won’t be able to travel on the visa before the 60-day deadline, you can use this service to extend the visa’s validity.
Even though a person’s visa has been obtained, there are situations when they may not be permitted to exit the nation for whatever reason. Instead of having to apply for a new visa, which would cost them additional money, they will only need to pay the amount to increase the visa’s validity.
You can use this service to extend the validity of your visa if you believe you won’t be able to travel while you have it.

The service enables those with visit visas to extend their validity for up to 60 days, while those with visas issued for study or medical treatment can extend their validity for up to 90 days.
Who can apply for this service?
Only those with valid visas who are still outside of the UAE may apply for this new service from ICP.
Through this single ICP service, all tourist visas issued by ICP may be renewed by 60 days.
The sponsor of the visa must go to ICP or one of its authorized typing facilities to submit an application for the service “extend entry permit.” However, you must make sure that your passport is still valid for at least another six months if you are extending your visit visa.

What is the cost of the service?
The cost of extending the validity of a visa is determined by the type of visa you are attempting to extend, according to the ICP website.
- Tourist or visit visa, Dh610, extendable for a maximum of 60 days.
- Visa for GCC citizens, extendable for a maximum of 60 days, Dh710.
- Dh510 for a 90-day extension on a visa for medical treatment.
- Up to a 90-day extension is possible on a student visa, which costs Dh610.
How long does it take to receive the extension?
If the application satisfies all conditions, the entry permit is given within 48 hours and electronically delivered to the email address registered with ICP.
