Have you misplaced your passport and need to leave the UAE? With an exit permit, you can travel.
On April 12, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) published a message on its official social media platforms alerting UAE citizens and visitors about how to apply for an exit permit online at icp.gov.ae.
Here’s how to get a permit online, along with the documentation you’ll need and the fee of the service.
How to issue an exit permit
If your visa was not issued by Dubai, you must request an exit permit through ICP, either online or at one of its service centers. If your visa was obtained in Dubai, you will need to apply for an exit permit at a service center run by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).
The documentation and application for getting an exit permit via ICP or GDRFA are the same.
- Embassy or consulate-issued passport or travel document.
- A police report of a lost letter.
- A copy of the airline ticket
- The applicant’s two personal photographs
You’ll also need to get a travel document from your consulate. Consulates frequently offer travel documents or emergency certifications to nationals who have lost their passport. For registering travel documents, each country’s consulate has its own protocol. As a result, before filing for an exit permission, you should check with the consulate of your home country.
Steps for applying for an entry permit online through ICP
- Go to https://icp.gov.ae/en/service/issue-exit-permit/ and fill out the form.
- Select ‘Start service’.
- In the application form, fill in the following information:

- If you have lost your passport, attach the appropriate paperwork for obtaining an exit permit.
- After submitting the application form, you must pay the exit permit payments electronically using your debit or credit card.

Cost:

Through GDRFA
If you live in Dubai, you must obtain an exit permit from the GDRFA; however, you must apply for the process at a GDRFA service center or an Amer center.
When you get to the Amer center, you must fill out an application for an exit permit. You must pay the fees when you have finished filling out the application form and submitting the appropriate documents to the service officer.
Cost:
- Dh200 service fee
- A fee of Dh20 is charged for every transaction.
- Dh50 for companies, Dh15 for individuals in terms of collection commission
- A cost of Dh100 will be paid if the application is filed through AMER Centers.
