In terms of the world's best performing digital governments, Dubai ranks #1 in the Arab World and 5th globally

In the Local Government Online Services Index 2022, Dubai ranked first in the Arab world and fifth globally (LOSI).

The survey, released by the UN as part of its Digital Government Report, is the organization’s assessment of the digital government landscape across all 193 of its sovereign member states.

According to its website, the report ranks countries using a combination of primary and secondary data collected from other UN agencies. It is based on over two decades of longitudinal research.

According to a tweet by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the city is also ranked first in the world in terms of content standards, digital services, and institutional framework.

The global list was topped by Berlin, with Madrid, Tallinn, and Copenhagen coming in second, third, and fourth place, respectively.

The 2022 edition of the LOSI comprises 86 indicators relating to five criteria:

Institutional framework: Municipal e-government strategy, organizational structure, legislation governing access to information and privacy, and open data policy are all part of the institutional framework.

Content provision: the extent to which important public information and resources are available online.

Services delivery: concentrating on the availability and delivery of specific government services

Participation and Engagement: determining the availability of interaction mechanisms and initiatives, as well as opportunities for public participation in local governance structures.

Technology: concentrating on the technical aspects of making the site and content available to users. Accessibility, functionality, dependability, ease of navigation, visual appeal, and alignment with technology standards are all indicators.

An earlier report issued in June 2022 by the United Nations Development Program and The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) ranked the UAE as one of the best-prepared countries to deal with future risks and challenges.

The study included 40 nations, including seven Arab countries, and found significant differences in each nation’s ability to transform when needed and readiness to face risks.
