What happens when you turn 18 and you are automatically registered for traffic files? Here are all the initiatives from the Ministry of Interior that will make life easier for you in the UAE

In the UAE, there are now numerous services that can be conveniently completed from the comfort of your own home. The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has recently introduced the digitization and automation of 11 services, to simplify the lives of individuals in the UAE.

These initiatives are a part of the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, which seeks to revamp the existing government work system in order to improve efficiency and the quality of services provided.

Automatic registration of traffic files

As part of the digitization of services, the Ministry of Interior will automatically generate a traffic file for individuals upon reaching the age of 18. Once the traffic file is created, a confirmation message will be sent to your registered mobile number.

Why does one need a traffic file?

A traffic file serves as the central hub for all your traffic-related services. Whether you are embarking on driving lessons, obtaining a driver’s license, or purchasing a vehicle, a traffic file is essential. This file is assigned a unique code known as the Traffic Code (T.C.) number, which is required for inquiries regarding traffic fines or when applying for services such as acquiring a number plate. Having a traffic file streamlines the process and ensures all your traffic-related information is easily accessible and organized.

Other services that are now digital

In addition to automatically registering traffic files for individuals upon turning 18, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) has implemented several upgrades to its services:

– The digitization of driving licenses and car registration cards, eliminating the need for mandatory printing and delivery. Electronic copies are now approved.
– The ability to store driving licenses and vehicle ownership documents on your Apple Wallet for easy access.
– The option to request a replacement plate for lost or damaged ones.
– Testing the digital transfer of certificates in Abu Dhabi.
– Changing ownership data through digital notifications.
– Exchanging a foreign driving license for a UAE license for eligible individuals.
– Issuing parking permits for People of Determination.
– Allowing car agencies to issue vehicle ownership directly through the online system.
– Simplifying vehicle transfer and tariff services.
– Digitally transferring vehicle ownership to another person and canceling your ownership.

These enhancements aim to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and provide more convenient options for users of MOI services.
