Disputes and payments for Dubai Salik fines capped at Dh10,000 annually

If you have received Salik fines and have not paid them, it is important to note that the maximum amount of fines you can accumulate in a year is Dh10,000. This limit is outlined in Salik’s most recent terms and conditions, which were updated on June 28, 2024. It is essential to be aware of these changes, as they include new guidelines for contesting fines and managing inactive Salik accounts.

1. Dispute your Salik violation quickly

To dispute a Salik violation, it must be done within a specific timeframe. You are only able to dispute a toll violation if it has been posted to your traffic file within the last 13 months from the violation issuance date, by the most recent terms and conditions.

2. Salik fines now have a maximum limit

A new regulation has been implemented regarding the maximum fine for Salik toll violations in a calendar year. According to the terms and conditions outlined on the official Salik website, the highest penalty amount that can be imposed is Dh10,000.  “The maximum aggregate amount of fines in relation to the Salik tolling system that may be imposed per vehicle, for any Salik tolling system violation shall not exceed Dh10,000 in any given calendar year, being the period commencing on January 1 and ending on December 31.”

3. Keep your Salik account active to not lose out on your balance

If you do not frequently utilize Salik toll gates or have departed the country without deactivating your Salik account, please be aware that inactive accounts may be deactivated, resulting in the loss of any remaining balance in your account.

As per the new terms and conditions, “A Salik account will become an inactive Salik account if there are no tolls or payments made or balance recharge posted to the Salik Account for a period of five years. When a Salik account becomes inactive, it shall forfeit any remaining account balance.”

To ensure that you do not lose any funds, it is important to consistently utilize your Salik account or replenish it as needed.
