August saw a 72% increase in mortgage transactions in Qatar

The number of mortgage transactions in Qatar’s real estate market increased, with 97 deals totaling QR3.858 billion recorded in August of this year. With the overall amount of transactions reaching QR2.245 billion in July of this year, this indicates a 71.9 percent increase over the previous month.

With 35 mortgage transactions, or 36.1 percent of all mortgaged properties, Al Rayyan Municipality had the most mortgage transactions, followed by Doha Municipality with 31 transactions, or 32 percent. According to data made public by the Ministry of Justice, Al Dhaayen Municipality came in second with nine transactions, or 9.3 percent, of all mortgaged homes.

Further down the list of municipalities with mortgaged properties were Umm Slal (8 transactions, or 8.2 percent), Al Warkah (6 transactions, or 6.2 percent), Al Khor and Dhakira (5 transactions, or 5.2 percent), and Al Shamal (3 transactions, or 3.1 percent).

In August 2025, Doha Municipality had the highest mortgage value at QR2.476 billion, while Al Shamal Municipality recorded the lowest value at QR5.729 million.

Additionally, it was discovered that the quantity of mortgage transactions attained a greater rate than the quantity of mortgage transactions.

Doha Municipality documented five mortgaged houses, whereas Al Rayyan Municipality recorded one of the top ten mortgaged properties, according to a cursory review and tracking of the volume and movement of mortgage transactions executed in August of this year.

Of the overall amount of mortgage transactions handled in August of this year, the volume of transactions for the top ten homes accounted for 88%.

According to the real estate trading data for the month, the real estate industry is still growing steadily and robustly in a number of commercial and investment domains. This is in line with the recent period of active trading activity in the industry, particularly with the introduction of new laws and rulings pertaining to real estate brokerage, real estate registration and documentation, ownership, and usufruct, as well as laws that draw in both domestic and foreign investment.

In contrast, the volume of trading in residential units decreased in August 2025 compared to the previous month, when 108 agreements totaling QR184.122 million were made for residential units.
