Dubai Customs handled 46,870,957 bags from 206,396 flights in 2023, or 128,400 bags every day on average. Ensuring traveler satisfaction and improving their experience are the main priorities.
With the assistance of 77 baggage inspection devices, the Passenger Operations Department employs over 845 inspection officers. Additionally, Dubai Customs was a major factor in the 17.15 million foreign visitors in 2023—a record number. The department’s goals are to give visitors an excellent experience, enhance existing services, and present the United Arab Emirates—and especially Dubai—as a chic destination for business and tourism.
Director of Passenger Operations at Dubai Customs, Ibrahim Al Kamali, emphasized the department’s critical role in expediting passengers’ customs processes and guaranteeing their satisfaction upon arrival at Dubai airports.
Utilizing artificial intelligence and contemporary technologies, the department is dedicated to deploying state-of-the-art traveler systems as part of an advanced plan within the customs inspection industry.
With the recently released “iDeclare” app, which works with all smart devices, passengers can now reveal their personal belongings and luggage ahead of time, cutting the time it takes to clear customs through the red channel down to less than four minutes.
The Passenger Operations Department’s Senior Manager of Airport Terminal 1, Khaled Ahmed, emphasized Dubai Customs’ careful planning to streamline traveler processes during busy times at Dubai International Airport.
These times of increased traffic include the Hajj season, winter, holidays, and New Year’s festivities. Due to its varied atmosphere and events, Dubai welcomes a large number of visitors throughout the year. Dubai Customs’ Passenger Operations Department has put in place an action plan to guarantee the highest level of effectiveness and quality in customs services for visitors and travelers. The plan includes increasing the number of inspectors during these peak times, as well as daily meetings and coordination with strategic partners such as Emirates Airlines, Dubai Airports, and other carriers.
