Through a joint venture between Ellington Properties and DMCC, Dubai’s JLT hub will get a Dh1.2 billion ‘Upper House’

Dubai’s JLT hub to get Dh1.2 billion ‘Upper House’ through Ellington Properties-DMCC partnership

A new residential development with 377 units and a Dh1.2 billion price tag will be built by Ellington Properties in the Jumeirah Lakes Tower high-tower neighbourhood by early 2026. The developer has hired Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG) as the design firm for the “Upper House” project.

Additionally, this is Ellington’s first business effort in JLT; up until now, it has operations in Downtown Dubai, the Palm, MBR City, and JVC.

“The vibrant neighbourhood will help to enhance the lifestyles of our Upper House residents, adding to our resort-like amenities and design-led homes,” said Joseph Thomas, co-founder of Ellington Properties. “Through this project, we will support the ambitions of DMCC to bolster JLT’s position as a destination for positive change.”

In 2022, JLT property and rental values experienced a significant increase, and the neighbourhood has benefited from the addition of serviced apartments and luxury hotels. Additionally, the DMCC free zone managed to register a record number of new businesses in 2022.

The Uptown Dubai development, whose showpiece skyscraper is the Uptown Tower, has also improved the JLT neighbourhood. All of the office spaces in the tower are pre-leased and should be ready later this year, making it one of the most sought-after commercial addresses in the area right now.

It is into this space that Ellington and its Uptown House is venturing. “JLT has become one of the most iconic mixed-use developments in the UAE,” said Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC. “As we look to build upon this status in the years to come, it is crucial that we bring new and exciting projects to the district – this partnership with Ellington Properties delivers exactly that.”
