The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), Abu Dhabi, has announced a number of infrastructure projects that will start on September 15 as part of the development of the North Yas residential area.

The work includes raising the standards and safety of the roads, increasing the amount of green space and community services, maintaining the area’s visual appeal and landscaping, and creating long-term infrastructure plans.

The new project is a component of DMT’s plan to create integrated urban communities and raise the standard of living for locals by constructing infrastructure and public areas in accordance with the best global practices.

The project will be carried out over the next few months in five parts, and it will be finished by the first quarter of 2023. DMT will provide a number of solutions, in collaboration with strategic partners, to guarantee simple access to housing and public spaces throughout the project. Alternative routes and parking will be made available by the department. A team from the department will be on site all day and into the evening to give seniors and People of Determination dedicated assistance in obtaining housing and public services.

Building sidewalks, renovating rainwater drainage systems, and enhancing the infrastructure of residential neighborhoods are all part of the new development project.

The DMT also intends to enhance the lighting and traffic flow in the North Yas residential neighborhood. Additionally, the department will build pocket parks in neighborhoods and improve the aesthetic of public spaces.

The area will get its first 13,600 square meter public park, complete with trees and green spaces. Residents will be able to take advantage of a genuinely remarkable experience in addition to parking lots, football, basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts, a new community market, and a playground with equipment.

The new project will complete the connection between Al-Ishbah Street and Yas Drive Street to the west of the area by adding a 1.8 km bicycle route to the area northwest of Al-Ikhtisar Street. For athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, the forthcoming bike path will improve the emirate’s outdoor activity landscape.

Dr. Salem Al Kaabi, Director General of Operational Affairs at the Department of Municipalities and Transport said: “The new North Yas residential area development project reflects our leadership’s vision of developing sustainable communities by revitalising residential areas through infrastructure development and improving the level of public services and facilities. It enhances the quality of life, ensures residents’ well-being, and empowers community members.
