In the first seven months of 2022, Dubai welcomed 8.1 million tourists

According to data, more than a million tourists came to Dubai in July, keeping the emirate on track to exceed pre-pandemic tourism levels.

In the first seven months of 2022, Dubai welcomed 8.1 million visitors, an increase of 184% over the same period in 2021. In the first half of 2022, the emirate had 7.12 million overnight international visitors.

2.85 million tourists visited between January and July 2021, while 9.58 million did so during the first seven months of 2019.

Data revealed that, despite the emirate having a 19% increase in available rooms year-to-date in 2022 compared to levels in 2019, hotel occupancy over the seven-month period stood at 72% of the 141,000 rooms available, closely following the 74% in 2019.

The emirate had 21.13 million hotel nights that were filled between January and July, a 17% increase over 2019 levels and a 29% increase over 2021.

The average length of stay increased significantly from 3.4 nights in 2019 to 4.1 nights.

The GCC region supplied 23% of the visitor counts, followed by Western Europe with 21%, South Asia with 16%, and the MENA with 12%. (12 per cent).

The broad geographic distribution is a reflection of Dubai’s diversified marketing approach, which aims to attract tourists from a wide range of countries and visitor demographics while minimising the risks of becoming overly dependent on any one area. It also highlights the effectiveness of destination marketing campaigns that deliver tailored messaging across platforms designed for particular audiences.

According to data from the Department of Economy and Tourism, the top five tourist-producing countries were India, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Russia.

The information demonstrates Dubai’s ranking as the top global destination in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2022 by highlighting the city’s continued popularity as a must-visit location. At a time when the majority of worldwide locations have reopened for tourists, it continues to be one of the most sought-after cities for international travel, business, and events.

The hugely successful six-month Expo 2020 Dubai, which attracted over 24 million visitors by the time it ended on March 31 this year, is mostly to credit for the incredibly encouraging performance of the industry. Numerous celebrations, leisure activities, and commercial events, such as the Dubai World Cup, Gulfood, and the Dubai Shopping Festival. The World Government Summit, Binance Blockchain Week, Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship, Arabian Travel Market, Gulfood, Dubai International Boat Show, Dubai Desert Classic, and Binance Blockchain Week all contributed to the rise.
