Foster + Partners unveils designs for two new towers at Marasi Bay in the UAE

The Marasi Bay project in Dubai is being developed by Omaniyat, a developer, and two new residential towers, named Vela and Vela Viento (Latin for sails and wind), have been unveiled by British architectural firm Foster + Partners.

The Lana, Dorchester Collection, Dubai, which was also created by the practice for Omniyat and is situated close to the waterfront, uses the same architectural language as the development.

With direct access to the marina and waterfront promenade, these towers provide their residents with opulent waterfront living.

Foster + Partners stated that the Vela project offers a floor area of 272,860 square feet spread over 30 stories, rising to 150 meters. The 38 apartments have internal areas ranging from 4,253 to 11,727 square feet, including penthouses and three- and four-bedroom homes with double-height living rooms, spacious private terraces, and L-shaped corner pools.

According to the leading design firm, two central penthouses that offer 360-degree views of the city connect the tower’s north and south sections.

The two-story penthouses feature enormous double-height rooms, private pools, and amazing bay windows that are oriented to capture the sunsets over Dubai.

A three-story Sky Palace that soars to new heights in Marasi Bay atop the tower serves as its crown. According to a statement from Foster + Partners, a separate, three-story private terrace provides unmatched city views, and a private elevator lobby links the apartment to the basement parking and drop-off area via a grand entry gallery.

It further stated that residents have direct access to Vela, Vela Viento, and The Lana amenities.

The UK design firm said that the 41-story, 180-meter-tall Vela Viento offers unmatched views of Downtown Dubai, the Burj Khalifa, and Marasi Bay.

There are 92 residences total, with internal areas ranging from 2,000 to 9,730 square feet. Three of the residences are bridge apartments, which are situated between the towers. Two double-height penthouses, complete with private pools and spacious terraces on each floor, crown the tower.

“Vela, Vela Viento and The Lana share a horizontal rhythm, an expressed structure, and voids in the massing, which makes them instantly recognisable. Together, they provide a range of generous outdoor spaces and play an integral role in the transformation of Dubai’s Marasi Bay,” remarked Gerard Evenden, Head of Studio, Foster + Partners.

He said that Vela Viento is located across Marasi Drive, set back from the marina. The tower is raised on a podium that offers a landscaped terrace, an indoor-outdoor pool, and lounging spots to improve views.

“The lower tower is separated into two parts and connected by glazed sky bridges, to create a framed view of the Burj Khalifa as people approach. An elevated drop-off zone is augmented with spectacular water features and artworks, providing a distinctive arrival sequence,” he explained.

He claims that a spacious amenity level with panoramic views of the city and the marina is located 100 meters up the tower.

“It features a double-height gym, a lounge with sunset views, and a terrace with a large infinity pool. The sky amenity is a focal point of the tower and provides a unique experience for residents and their guests,” he added.
