According to the most recent Global Power City Index (GPCI) assessment published by the Institute for Urban Strategies at the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan, Dubai has once again taken the top spot in the world for city cleanliness.
For the fifth consecutive year, Dubai has received this esteemed honor, which highlights its dedication to becoming a model city for the future.
The emirate’s commitment to the highest international standards of living and environmental excellence is seen in its continued leadership in sustainable urban development.
Dubai achieved 100% satisfaction in the statistic assessing city cleanliness under the environment pillar, which is one of the primary criteria used to assess the global strength of cities, outperforming over 47 other cities globally.
This accomplishment is the result of Dubai Municipality’s diligent work implementing integrated plans and initiatives in partnership with partners in the public and private sectors. These initiatives are in line with the Dubai Integrated Garbage Management Strategy 2041, which calls for a 100% diversion of garbage from landfills and an 18% decrease in waste production by that year.
Dubai Municipality is still dedicated to maintaining the emirate’s prominence, sustainability, and allure on a worldwide scale. The Municipality continues to improve quality of life, foster community happiness, and support Dubai’s aim to become the greatest city in the world to live and work in by providing top-notch municipal services.
According to Dubai Municipality Acting Director General Marwan bin Ghalita, the city’s aspirational goal of becoming the greatest place in the world to live and work is what propels Dubai’s continuous dominance in international rankings. According to him, the city’s accomplishments in a variety of disciplines represent the UAE leadership’s vision, which motivates teams to pursue excellence.
“Leadership and excellence are built on teamwork, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the highest standards. Dubai’s faith in its teams has established a global benchmark for future cities, defined by innovation, sustainability, and exceptional quality of life,” he said.
Bin Ghalita commended the work of the cleanliness teams of the Dubai Municipality, which include over 3,200 engineers, supervisors, and monitors. Their commitment has maintained the city’s flawless standards for five years in a row. He also recognized that reaching this noteworthy milestone required cooperation between the public and business sectors as well as the backing of the larger community.
The Dubai Municipality oversees a state-of-the-art sustainability and cleaning system that guarantees smooth operations all year round. This system, which is backed by a fleet of 855 cutting-edge cars, trucks, and gear, demonstrates the emirate’s dedication to upholding international standards.
A wide range of daily cleaning programs are also managed by the Municipality in a variety of locations, such as 2,400 kilometers of major roads and highways, 1,419 square kilometers of investment zones, 33.4 kilometers of water canals and creeks, as well as residential, commercial, and rural areas, marketplaces, and waste storage facilities.
The programs also manage the removal of abandoned vehicles and equipment, provide community e-services like disposing of domestic furniture, and supervise the treatment of hazardous and medical waste. Vehicles used in the private sector for rubbish collection and transportation are monitored by e-systems.
Dubai Municipality incorporates cutting-edge technologies to minimize carbon emissions, optimize energy use, and guarantee the sustainability of natural resources. These projects include using electric vehicles for public cleaning operations and creating intelligent systems for the collection, storage, and transportation of waste.
Dubai Municipality is dedicated to providing exceptional municipal services, guided by its goal of “A Pioneering Municipality for a Global City.” These initiatives uphold Dubai’s reputation as a civilized city, safeguard the environment, and improve the sustainability of its natural resources.
In order to establish Dubai as the most sustainable city in the world and to promote the greatest standards of happiness and quality of life for its citizens, the Municipality also backs the development of an eco-friendly waste management system.
