A $517 million contract is awarded to Meraas for the development of an exclusive community of villas in Dubai

United Engineering Construction (UNEC) has been given an AED1.9 billion ($517 million) contract by Meraas, a division of Dubai Holding Real Estate, to build The Acres, an elite standalone villa community.

With a completion date of Q4 2027, the deal covers the first release, which consists of 642 villas and related community services.

Each of the three-, four-, and five-bedroom villas, which range in size from 3,048 to 6,001 square feet, has a private garden that is connected to a network of swimmable lagoons and the community’s central Halo Loop Park by groomed pathways.

The Acres, which was thoughtfully designed around Halo Loop Park, links neighborhoods with well-integrated social infrastructure and large green areas.

Meraas claims that sustainability is ingrained in every facet of The Acres, with strategies in place to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per capita by 80% compared to the national average and water consumption by 33% compared to the UAE average. All irrigation requirements are satisfied by treated wastewater.

The project’s achievement of LEED Gold Pre-certification for Cities & Communities highlights Meraas’ dedication to creating environmentally conscious developments that adhere to global standards.

Dubai Holding Real Estate CEO Khalid Al Malik said: “The Acres represents the next chapter in Meraas’ vision to create neighbourhoods where design, sustainability and wellbeing come together seamlessly. This partnership with UNEC reinforces our commitment to delivering homes that reflect Dubai’s architectural excellence and support its broader vision for sustainable urban living under the Dubai 2040 Master Plan.”

“To bring that vision to life, we are shaping communities that elevate everyday life and set new benchmarks for future-ready living,” he stated.

On the contract win, Eng. Abdul Halim Muwahid, the Chairman of UNEC, said: “We are proud to collaborate with Meraas on The Acres, a project that reflects Dubai’s continued leadership in residential excellence.”

“Our commitment to international best practices and innovative construction standards will ensure this development delivers outstanding quality and robust sustainability performance,” he stated.

The Acres’ central location in Dubailand provides easy access via Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road, putting residents five minutes from Hamdan Sports Complex and Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club and ten minutes from Global Village.

According to Al Malik, the Halo Loop Park and its seven gardens connect important community facilities like a nursery, a school, a clinic, mosques, clubhouses, and a retail area.

A vast network of outdoor exercise centers, kid-friendly playgrounds, swimming pools, walking and cycling routes, and specialized sports facilities will also be available to residents, he continued, all of which promote an active and well-rounded lifestyle.
