The cityscape of Dubai is known for its breathtaking skyscrapers and unique architecture as far as the eye can see. Amidst the glittering landscape, there are also many impressive infrastructure projects designed to simplify commuting throughout the city. One such project is the recently opened Infinity Bridge in Dubai. Featuring a design that represents the mathematical symbol of infinity, this breathtaking feat of engineering is set to become synonymous with the city’s infinite ambitions.

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) is constantly looking for ways to reduce the time that residents are stuck in traffic. The Infinity Bridge in Dubai is the latest step in the right direction.
With a cost of AED 5.3 billion, the Infinity Bridge is part of the Al Shindagha Corridor Project and will serve Dubai Seafront, Port Rashid, Deira Islands, and Dubai Maritime City. In total, the corridor extends over 13 km, running along Al Khaleej Street, Cairo Street, and Sheikh Rashid Street.
Infinity Bridge has been built over Dubai Creek alongside Al Shindagha Tunnel, setting a new standard for global engineering. Designed by Besix Group, the project offers six driving lanes on each side and connects Al Ras with Al Shindagha.
If you’re driving, you can easily cross the bridge within two minutes. Around 24,000 cars can cross the bridge in an hour. Dubai Creek’s number of lanes has increased from 48 to 60 since the new bridge was opened. This will undoubtedly reduce traffic between Bur Dubai and Deira. Also, a top priority of the bridge is ensuring the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, hence the 3-meter-wide lane devoted to those traveling on foot or by bicycle.
The deck construction of Infinity Bridge was completed in just eight months by contractor Besix. The bridge measures 300 meters long, 22 meters wide, and 15.5 meters high. The glorious infinity steel arch stands 42 meters high. During the bridge’s official launch, 40 steel segments were opened, some weighing almost 130 tons!
During the inauguration ceremony, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, stressed the importance of road and transport networks for economic growth:
“The road and transport sector is a vital sector that supports economic growth and social welfare, and we continue to advance it, and our investments in it have exceeded 140 billion dirhams over the past fifteen years.”
