A 10-year prison sentence is imposed in Dubai for forging visas and residence permits

On social media, the Public Prosecution in Dubai issued a crucial reminder about the regulations governing visas and residency permits.

Forging a visa, residence permit, or other official document relating to these with the purpose to contravene the law is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, according to the authority.

Not only do people who fabricate documents face punishment, but also those who use counterfeit documents knowing they were created fraudulently.

According to authorities, more than 10,500 illegal immigrants were punished in the UAE last year.

These 10,576 immigration instances involved, among other things, absconders, illegal immigrants, forgers of resident cards or visas, individuals working for another business without a formal permit, persons whose residence visas had expired, and individuals caught working on visit visas.
