What to do if you lose the balance on your Nol card in Dubai

What to do if you lose the balance on your Nol card in Dubai

Did you know that losing your nol card in Dubai doesn’t necessarily mean losing all the balance you had on it? The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) offers a service that allows users with a blue nol card, or a personalized Silver or Gold card, to recover the balance on it.

To personalize your Silver or Gold nol card, simply link it to your Emirates ID.

If you lose your nol card, the first step is to contact the RTA customer service center at 800 90 90 immediately to report the loss and block the card. Once that’s done, you can apply to transfer the balance from your previous nol card to your new one. Here are the details.

How to refund the balance from your lost nol card?

To request a refund for your nol card, you must first visit the official RTA website at rta.ae or use this link: https://www.rta.ae/wps/portal/rta/ae/public-transport/nol/nol-refund?lang=en. Once there, you will need to enter your nol tag ID, which is the ten-digit number located on the back of your nol card, as well as your mobile number. If you need assistance finding your nol tag ID, you can call the customer service center and provide your Emirates ID number to receive it.

Next, you will need to select the reason for replacement, whether it be due to loss, theft, or expiration. You will also need to enter your PIN code, which is provided to you via SMS for all blue and personalized nol cards.

After that, you will need to provide your personal details, including your full name, mobile number, Emirates ID, home address, and nationality. Once you have reviewed the details of your refund application and agreed to the terms and conditions, you can confirm the application and pay the service fee of Dh70 for the card replacement.

Once you have paid the fee, you will receive a reference number to track your application. The card-blocking request will then be created on your card after the application is confirmed. After four days from the date of your application submission, the new card will be issued and delivered to your home address. You will receive a confirmation SMS once the application is approved by RTA and the refund balance is transferred to your new card.

It is important to note that you must activate the refunded amount by inserting the card in a nol top-up machine, public parking meter, or at the check-in and check-out gate at a Metro station, according to RTA guidelines.

By following these steps, you can easily apply for a refund for your nol card and receive a new card with your refunded balance.

Cost

Transferring your nol card balance is completely free of charge. However, if you need to replace your card, there is a fee of Dh70. Please note that this fee only applies to card replacement and not to balance transfers.
