More than 200 outstanding educators from early childhood centers, schools, and universities have been awarded Golden Visas by Dubai in recognition of their great contributions to education and society.

On World Teachers’ Day 2024, the initiative was first announced. It was started on the orders of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. It honors teachers who have significantly improved education and the community at large.

What is an educator’s Golden Visa?

Qualified educators are permitted to live and work in Dubai for an extended period of time with the Golden Visa, a 10-year renewable residency. They can sponsor family members as well.

Teachers who fulfill the eligibility requirements established by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) are eligible to apply. Applications for the Golden Visa for exceptional instructors will be accepted from October 15 through December 15, 2025, according to KHDA.

The following requirements must be fulfilled by faculty members at higher education institutions as well as teachers in schools and ECCs:

Requirements (just for HEI professors)

A master’s degree, professional doctorate, PhD, or other advanced degree is required, as well pertinent professional credentials like a certified public accountant or professional fellowships.

Excellence in the workplace

Faculty and instructors are required to present proof of:

Principal nomination endorsed and approved by the board of governors

Student performance on tests and examinations, both internal and external

Recognition and Awards

A distinguished education award must have been given to them, either:

National honors (such as the Hamdan Award or something comparable)

International honors (such as the Global Teacher Prize or something comparable)

Appreciation via scholarships, grants, or contests

Community service

Must have made a constructive contribution through social or educational efforts to the school or larger community.

Eligibility criteria for ECC managers, principals, and academic heads

Qualifications (for HEI only)

Support for key student groups

Demonstrated effectiveness in raising Emirati pupils’ academic standing.

Demonstrated effectiveness in fostering the social and intellectual growth of resolute kids.

Recognition and Awards

A distinguished education award must have been given to them, either:

National honors (such as the Hamdan Award or something comparable)

International honors (such as the Global Teacher Prize or something comparable)

Appreciation via scholarships, grants, or contests

Community service

Must have made a constructive contribution through social or educational efforts to the school or larger community.

An advanced degree (such as a master’s, doctoral, or professional degree) or appropriate professional credentials (such as a certified public accountant or professional fellowships) are required.

(Only for principals) DSIB rating

The school’s ranking in the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau’s (DSIB) yearly inspections must have improved to Good or better.

This rating had to be kept or raised even higher.

Research Contributions (exclusively for HEI)

Proof of publications, research funds, partnerships, consultation reports, creative work or exhibits, or research contributions.

Achievement of student

Demonstrable improvements in student outcomes, including as graduation rates and academic development.

Leadership impact and feedback

The school’s board of governors must formally nominate someone, stating their outstanding leadership and provide particular justifications.

Showcase constructive contributions to the larger community by means of collaborations, social initiatives, or educational programs.
