There is no PCR test for 2% of passengers: New COVID-19 update for Indian travellers

If you are planning to travel to India from the UAE in the near future, it is important to be aware of the newly implemented regulations for international arrivals.

On July 19, India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) released guidelines that will be enforced starting from July 20. These guidelines aim to ensure the health and safety of all individuals entering the country.

No PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test on arrival

The latest guidelines have eliminated the previous mandate of subjecting two percent of all passengers on a flight to random post-arrival testing at the airport.

The recent revisions in the guidelines have done away with the necessity of conducting random post-arrival testing at the airport for two percent of the total passengers on a flight.

No Air Suvidha form required

In November of last year, India also eliminated the need for passengers to complete the Air Suvidha form. This form was a self-declaration document that mandated passengers to provide information about their travel, along with evidence of vaccination and PCR test outcomes.

Nevertheless, there are still certain regulations that you must adhere to.

Better to be vaccinated

According to the latest guidelines, it is strongly recommended that all travelers be fully vaccinated in accordance with the approved primary COVID-19 vaccination schedule in their respective home countries. This measure ensures the safety and well-being of individuals during their travels.

On arrival

The guidelines also state that deboarding should be conducted while ensuring physical distancing. Additionally, all passengers should undergo thermal screening administered by health officials stationed at the point of entry.

“Any passenger having symptoms of COVID-19 during travel shall be isolated as per standard protocol i.e. the said passenger should be wearing a mask, isolated and segregated from other passengers in flight/travel, and shifted to an isolation facility subsequently for follow-up treatment,” read the guidelines issued by the Ministry.

“The passengers found to be symptomatic during screening shall be immediately isolated, taken to a designated medical facility as per health protocol,” it said.

Travelers were also advised to monitor their health after arriving and promptly report to the nearest health facility if they experience any symptoms indicative of COVID-19. Alternatively, they could call the National helpline number at 1075 or their respective state’s helpline number. It is crucial for individuals to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their well-being and the safety of others.
