The UAE visa stamping and Emirates ID process has been unified: Here's how it works

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) announced on Monday, November 7, that citizens of the UAE can now submit a single unified application for both their Emirates ID and residency visa.

The applications for issuance of residency permits and Emirates IDs would be unified, ICP had said in May 2022. The two applications were previously handled independently. The Emirates ID would take the role of the visa sticker on residents’ passports, according to the ICP, in another significant modification to the visa system.

Follow the instructions below to submit a unified application for your Emirates ID and residence permit.

How to use the new unified service?

By accessing the ICP website at http://smartservices.icp.gov.ae or using the official ICP mobile app, “UAEICP,” which is accessible on both Apple and Android devices, you can submit a single application for a new visa and Emirates ID. Next, follow these steps.

  1. Log in using your UAE Pass account – Regardless of whether you plan to apply via the website or app, you must first log in using your UAE Pass account.
  2. From the list of services on your dashboard, select the “residence permit and Emirates ID issuance” service.
  3. Fill out the application form with your information. To prevent any delays in processing the application, ICP recommended residents to double-check the information they enter. This contains information such as the email address, mobile number, Emirates ID number, and expiration date.
  4. Click ‘Submit’.
  5. Review the details and confirm. The fees will then need to be paid. Depending on the length of the residence visa you are asking for, the process’s price will change.

After making the purchase, you will receive your Emirates ID from reputable delivery services.
