Make sure your car’s modifications are allowed by UAE traffic law if you intend to tint your windows or change some of its features.
According to the UAE’s traffic law, Ministerial Resolution No. (178) for 2017 on Rules and Procedures of Traffic Control, driving with a broken rear light or making changes to your vehicle without permission can result in fine, black points, and, in some circumstances, the impoundment of your vehicle.
So, here are some fines you should be aware of if you are driving your automobile to the garage soon to likely make some upgrades to an ancient vehicle or you plan to change the color of your car.
1. Illegal tinting
A Dh1,500 punishment will be assessed to drivers who darkened ‘unpermitted’ vehicles (taxis and lorries) or went above the allowed percentage for car windows.
The UAE Traffic Law states that drivers are permitted to tint their automobile windows by 50%. Trucks and cabs cannot have their windows tinted, though.
2. Modifying the vehicle’s engine
According to UAE traffic law, drivers who do not undergo an examination or inspection after making modifications to their vehicle would be subject to a Dh400 punishment.

4. Illegally changing the color of your vehicle
You must obtain permission from the police department in your Emirate if you want to change the color of your car. If the previous color of your car was white and you changed it to a striking red tint without getting a no-objection certificate from the police, you would be fined Dh800. The vehicle’s registration card facts make it very apparent what color the car was original. The old color will be shown on your vehicle’s registration card if you haven’t changed it after altering the color.
Additionally, UAE auto shops won’t change the color of the automobile until you present them with a NOC from your neighborhood police department.
