The COVID-19 requirements you need to meet when travelling to the UAE or within the country

Face masks, tests, and vaccinations are all still required in the UAE.

You might be unsure of the COVID-19 standards you still need to meet if you’re moving within the UAE or traveling there from another nation. There are a number of prerequisites that you may need to meet, as well as certain rules that have recently been relaxed, ranging from having a current negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test result to having received a vaccination.

Here is everything you require to know.

Does one need a negative PCR test result when going to Abu Dhabi?

The Emirate has eliminated the requirement that travelers display a “Green Pass” from the Al Hosn app at the Abu Dhabi border, which previously required proof of a negative PCR test. You are no longer obliged to provide a Green Pass at the border crossing or go through the EDE scanners (Exponential Deep Examination), which were used to look for potential COVID-19 cases, according to an announcement made on February 28 by the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

However, in order to enter Abu Dhabi’s public spaces, you must have a Green Pass. The ruling covers stores outside of shopping centers, eateries and cafés, sports and recreation centers, health resorts, educational institutions, museums and cultural centers, universities, and academic institutes (except supermarkets and pharmacies).

Additionally, a Green Pass is required to enter any UAE federal government office or customer service facility.

Does one need to wear a mask at all times?

Although you should always have a face mask with you, current COVID-19 standards have been eased so that face mask use is not required in open, outdoor areas. Wear your face mask, though, if you’re in a crowded area, even if it’s outside. Additionally, you must continue to wear face masks inside.

Traveling from outside the UAE – what COVID-19 documents does one need to carry?

The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) has announced the following regulations for visitors from outside the UAE as of February 26, 2022:

– Those who have received the COVID-19 vaccination must provide their vaccination record, which includes a QR code. They are not needed to produce a COVID-19 RT-PCR test result that is negative at the departure airport.

– Those who do not have a COVID-19 vaccination must either show a positive, genuine RT-PCR test result obtained within 48 hours of their arrival or, if they have already had the virus, a recovery certificate from it (which includes a QR code) issued within 30 days of their departure.
