Saudi 'border numbers': what are they and how do you find them?

The immigration service will give you a special number known as a “boundary number” if you are traveling to Saudi Arabia. This number serves as a tourist identity.

To every passport holder entering Saudi Arabia on a new visa, the Saudi General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) issues this number.

The Ministry of Interior’s (MOI) website states that the “boundary number” is handwritten on your visit visa by Saudi immigration agents.

You don’t need to make an account to use the Absher platform, which is the official online portal for Saudi government services, to quickly look for your “border number” if you can’t locate it on your visit visa.

How does one find the ‘border number’ online?

If you are a resident in, an expat in, or a visitor to the GCC, you can search for the border number listed in the Jawazat system.

  1. Log onto the www.absher.sa website.
  2. After that, choose “Individual category.”
  3. After arriving at the homepage, select the “Query for Border Number” feature.
  4. Choose either “Non-GCC citizen” or “GCC citizen.”
  5. If you are a non-citizen of the GCC, provide the visa issue date and the number displayed on your visit visa. If you are a citizen of the GCC, you can provide your national ID or passport number.
  6. After doing so, type the captcha code and press the “Inquire” button.
  7. Your entire name and the border number will then be shown by the Jawazat system.
