Residents of Dubai are being asked to register family members on Ejari - here's how to do it

As part of a programme by the Dubai Land Department, tenants resident in Dubai will need to register each person living with them in their residence (DLD).

In an announcement made on September 23, the Dubai Land Department (DLD) stated that all property owners and tenants must register all co-occupants of residential units in the Emirate in order to “develop a comprehensive statistical record of all residents in Dubai properties to support government entities in responding to the evolving needs of citizens, residents, and visitors.”

An email was sent by Dubai Land Department to tenants with the following message: “Dubai Land Department requests all the concerned entities (Owners, Developers, Property Management companies, tenants) to register the co-occupant details in the owned or leased properties within a maximum of two weeks with immediate effect.”

Tenants must complete the basic registration process by doing the following:

  1. Get the “Dubai REST” app, which may be used on both Apple and Android devices.
  2. Once you open the app, you may see a message pop up with the notification: “All Dubai residents need to add their family members against their Ejari contract within two weeks, starting from September 23, 2022.” Click on Proceed.
  3. The system will then inquire as to whether or not you have already signed up as a user of the app. If so, go ahead and log in using your account information. If not, press the “Proceed to register” button.
  4. You will be given the choice to register using your UAE Pass, your residency visa number, your UID number, or your Emirates ID.
  5. Enter your personal information, including your birthdate, passport information, Emirates ID data, and a copy of your Emirates ID.
  6. Choose the “dashboard” option from the menu at the bottom of your screen, then click “units.” The app will display information on the rental home you have.
  7. Tap on “Manage co-occupants,” then enter the information for your family members who reside with you, such as their Emirates ID and date of birth.
  8. Click “Verify.”
  9. Click “add more” if you need to add more family members.
  10. After you’ve entered each co-tenant who will be sharing a lease, click the box next to “I therefore affirm that the information supplied herein is genuine” and press the “Submit” button.
