Over 70 nationalities can get a 180-day visa on arrival in the UAE

Planning a trip to the UAE soon? A prearranged visa is not required for entry into the UAE for nationals of more than 73 countries and territories.

Passengers with passports from the following nations and territories may be eligible for different types of visas on arrival, ranging from a 14-day visa up to a 180-day visa, according to information provided by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai and UAE-based airlines.

30-day visit eligibility

You do not need to apply in advance for a UAE visa if you have a passport from one of the following nations or territories in order to visit the UAE. Airlines serving the UAE, like Etihad, Emirates, and flydubai, claim that after you arrive in the country, all you need to do is head to the immigration counter at the airport, where your passport will be stamped with a free 30-day visit visa.

90-day visit eligibility

If you have a passport from one of the following nations or territories, you will have multiple entry 90-day visit visas stamped in your passport. This visa is good for up to 90 days in total and is valid for six months from the date of issuance.

This visa is issued free of charge.

180-day visit eligibility

A multiple entries 180-day visit visa, good for 180 days overall and valid for six months from the date of issue if you have a Mexican passport, is available to you.

A 14-day visa on arrival

Indian citizens holding a normal passport and either:

  1. a visit visa issued by the US or
  2. a Green Card issued by the US or
  3. a residence visa issued by the UK or
  4. a residence visa issued by the EU

One can receive a visa on arrival for a stay of up to 14 days, as long as their visas or green cards are good for at least six months after their date of entry into the UAE.

How much does the visa cost?

These visas cost Dh144 and are also extendable.

While you can visit the immigration desk at the airport to request an extension for your on-arrival visa, you can also apply for a new visa when your current one expires.

How to extend a visa on arrival?

You can use a travel agent to apply for a new visa if you want to stay for a longer period of time.

The new visa can be applied for either a 30 or 90-day period.

When you apply for a new visa, you will get a new entrance permit even though the extension you request is the same visa and will have the same visa number.

Pre-arranged visa

If none of the conditions mentioned apply to you, you can apply for a pre-arranged UAE visit visa through the airline you are flying with, a travel agency, or the hotel you will be staying at. At the moment, visit visas can be obtained for either 30 or 90 days. The UAE has nevertheless stated that 60-day visit permits will also be available soon.
