New taxi rates in Dubai: How much will your ride cost?

New taxi fares have been announced by Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA), with the introduction of new flag rates for both regular metered taxis and hala taxi services at specific locations and times.

According to the announcements, the flag fall rate will be set at Dh20 at the locations of main events such as exhibitions and international conventions like the World Trade Centre, Expo City and Global Village. This will be applicable during major event days.

What is the flag fall rate?

The ‘flag fall’ rate is the amount at which your trip taxi trip costs start when the taxi metre is started. It is the maximum cost you must pay for the taxi trip.

How much will my ride cost?

According to RTA, these are the costs that come into play,

Flag Fall rate

Salik toll charges (Dh4 per crossing)

Dh20 if you are travelling to a different emirate from Dubai

Waiting fare – 50 fils per minute.

Different flag fall rates

These are the different flag fall rates that you need to keep in mind:

Dh5 – when you hail a regular or family taxi from the road between 6 am – 10 pm.

Dh5.50 – when you hail a regular or family taxi from between 10 pm – 6 am.

Dh8 – when you hail a taxi for People of Determination between 6 am – 10 pm.

Dh9 – when you hail a taxi for People of Determination between 10 pm – 6 am.

Dh12 – Through reservation.

This rate applies to reserving a regular, family, or female taxi online through Careem or RTA during rush hours.

Dh20 – when you hail a taxi from Dubai Airport or Port Rashid.

Dh20 – when you hail a taxi during a major event from exhibitions and international conventions (World Trade Centre, Expo City, and the Global Village).

Dh25 – when you hail a family taxi or a taxi for People of Determination from Dubai Airports or Port Rashid.
