Learn how to use Sharjah's bus card, 'Sayer'

You might be interested in taking a bus around the city if you live in Sharjah or frequently visit the Emirate. Purchasing a “Sayer card,” the bus card provided by the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), maybe a wise choice in this situation.

What is a Sayer card?

On Sharjah buses, a Sayer card can be used as a cashless payment option. When the Sayer card is scanned at the bus ticket machine, the trip’s fare will be automatically subtracted.

Where does one buy a Sayer card?

By asking the driver on the public buses in Sharjah or by going to the Al Jubail Bus Station, you may buy and recharge Sayer cards.

What is the difference between a Sayer card and a cash ticket?

For travel on public buses within Sharjah, a cash ticket would cost at least Dh8, while a Sayer Discount Card offers a 25% discount and costs Dh6.

What are the different types of Sayer Cards?

There are two types of Sayer cards:

Sayer Discount Card

Either Dh50 or Dh95 can be used to acquire the Sayer Discount card. The card has a five-year expiration date and can be refilled for between Dh45 and Dh90.

Sayer Subscription Card

The Sayer Subscription Card has a five-year expiration date and costs Dh225. The subscription card, which can be renewed each month for Dh225, enables unrestricted travel for a period of 30 days.

They can be purchased for an initial fee of Dh5, including of 5% VAT (Value Added Tax), to cover the cost of the card, and the amount to be charged on each card.

How to register your Sayer card

By doing the following, you can register your Sayer card:

  1. Go to the following website: mowasalat.ae/register/sayer page
  2. Enter your personal information
  3. Upload the required paperwork, which should include copies of your Sayer Card and your Emirates ID or passport that have been self-attested.

What are the benefits of registering?

According to Sharjah’s Public Transport website, mowasalat.ae, if a registered Sayer card is lost, stolen, or destroyed, the card will be stopped from future use and the balance on the card can be transferred to another replacement card. Unregistered Sayer cards are unable to do this.

Can one travel on Sharjah buses for free?

People with disabilities, the elderly, and recipients of social assistance may ride buses within Sharjah using the Sayer Exempt Category Card, which is provided by the SRTA. For the Exempt Category Card to be valid:

– The applicant must be a citizen or resident of the UAE.

– The candidate must be elderly or incapacitated.

– For applicants with disabilities, a card from the Ministry of Community Development certifying the existence of a handicap is required.

– The applicant must be registered with the Department of Social Assistance and possess a card for beneficiaries of social services.

What are the documents required to apply for the Exempt Category Card?

– Personal Photograph

– Copy of passport

– Emirates ID copy

– Copy of ID card from Ministry of Community Development

– Copy of ID card from Department of Social Services

Visit http://www.mowasalat.ae/register/exempt category and upload all the required papers to apply for a new Exempt Category Card, replacement, or renewal.

At the Al Jubail Bus Terminal Cashier Office of the Government of Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, you can pick up new Exempt Category Cards, renewed cards, and replacement cards. Every day of the week from 10 am to 5 pm is when you can pick up the card. When picking up the card, you must show a legitimate Emirates ID.

What is the cost to apply for or renew a Sayer Exempt Category Card?

For the first year, a brand-new Exempt Category Card is free.

The card must be renewed annually for a charge of Dh25.

You can get a new card for Dh25 if the original is destroyed or misplaced.
