If you want to navigate through Dubai without getting stuck in traffic or plan on exploring the renowned Dubai Mall, having a Salik tag on your car is crucial. However, it is important to be aware that when you attach a Salik tag to your vehicle, you must ensure that you do not make any mistakes that could render the tag unreadable.
Here are three common errors to avoid when installing a Salik tag:
– Do not remove the tag once it has been installed, as this could cause damage.
– Do not transfer the tag from one vehicle to another; each Salik tag is designated for use on a single car.
– Do not cut or fold the tag, as this could result in damage and prevent it from being scanned properly.
Where is the right place to place the Salik tag?
According to Salik, the optimal placement for the Salik tag is in the top center of your windshield. It should be positioned approximately one centimeter below your rearview mirror.
If your vehicle has a metallic or metallised windshield, it is recommended to place the Salik tag on the dotted area of the windshield. For vehicles with a windshield that has a darker tinted area, the tag should be placed on the lighter area and not on the tinted portion.
Detailed instructions for installing a new Salik tag are provided in the envelope that is included with your tag.
What if one get a new car?
When purchasing a new car, it is important to remember that you will need to acquire a new Salik tag. If you own multiple vehicles, you can easily link multiple tags to your account. These tags are associated with your traffic file and can be conveniently managed through your Salik account. This can be done through the Smart Salik app, which is available for both Apple and Android phones, or through the website at salik.ae.
What to do if your Salik tag gets damaged
If your Salik tag becomes damaged, you will need to purchase a replacement. The cost of a new Salik tag is Dh100, with Dh50 for the tag itself and an additional Dh50 balance added to your account.
