In the UAE, what is a Traffic Code or T.C number? How can one find one?

Want to fill out a form in Dubai and need a T.C. number? Here’s all you need to know about T.C numbers and where to find them.

Traffic Code Number is also known as the Unified Traffic Number or T. C. No. It is a unique number that defines the personal traffic profile of individuals who use the Unified Traffic System, according to the Abu Dhabi Police website. The number appears on your driver’s license as well as any number of vehicles registered in your name. Therefore, if you have a driving license issued in the UAE, as well as two or three vehicles registered under your name, the T.C. No. for all these files will remain the same.

Where to find the Unified Traffic Number?

It can be found at:

1. Your vehicle registration card

A vehicle registration card has the T.C. No. as the third entry on its front face, directly after the Traffic Plate No. and the Emirate in which the vehicle is registered.

2. Your driving license

On the back of your driver’s license, you’ll also find the T.C. No. It should not be confused with the license number or the licensing authority code which appears on the front of the card.

What is the T.C. No. for?

The following vehicle and licensing services may require you to provide the T.C. No. :

  1. Paying traffic fines – As well as being able to check if you have been fined using your number plate, you will also be able to get details of all the fines that were issued if you have more than one vehicle.
  1. In Dubai, applying for the Salik tag or in Abu Dhabi, applying for the Darb toll system.
  2. Applying for a parking permit – The parking permit system in Abu Dhabi specifically asks for the applicant’s T.C. No.

In Dubai, you can register for a parking card using your T.C. No., instead of a number plate, to link all the vehicles under your name to the same parking card.

In paid parking areas, only one vehicle registered under your name can be used at any given time. RTA’s website states that a Dubai parking card can be registered to a maximum of three vehicles.
