In Abu Dhabi, you can get free mother and child checks this month

If you are a new mother in Abu Dhabi or are expecting a baby soon, you can benefit from free prenatal and antenatal checkups during the month of August to ensure your health and the health of your child.

Every year in August, the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) hosts a programme called “Maternal and Child Health” that gives mothers the chance to visit any of the participating maternity and children’s hospitals in Abu Dhabi.

Which health checks can you get through the programme?

The programme works with Abu Dhabi’s maternity and children’s hospitals to implement a number of preventive measures and routine health checks linked to maternal and child health. Through preventive and evidence-based methods, the programme aims to improve the possibilities accessible to them and the health of women, newborns, children, and families.

There are three screening programmes offered to women and kids:

1. Antenatal screenings

This screening is meant to guarantee that all women receive pre-conception and prenatal counseling.

2. Newborn screenings

The Newborn Screening Program’s goal is to identify potentially fatal or handicapping problems in babies as soon as feasible. There are four ways to do this:

– physical examination

– hearing screening

– screening for critical congenital heart disease

– heal prick test. This is a major test to detect developmental, genetic, and metabolic disorders in newborn babies.

3. Well Child Visits

Well, The physicians and parents can closely monitor the development and overall health of the child thanks to visits. Additionally, it aids in the early detection of potential health issues, increasing the likelihood that the kid will receive the necessary medical care and treatment.

Does one need to pay for the visits?

All screenings conducted as part of the programme, according to ADPHC, are covered by each person’s insurance.

Which hospitals can one go to?

The Department of Health has granted licenses to 31 maternity hospitals and clinics in Abu Dhabi, all of which offer newborn and prenatal screenings. Simply follow these steps to locate the hospital or clinic that is most convenient for you:

– Click on “Resources” on the Department of Health website, www.doh.gov.ae.

– Select “lists and tools” to be directed to a page listing available services.

– After you click “Find a Healthcare Facility,” the website will list all the hospitals and clinics in the vicinity of your home for you to visit.

You can go to any of the “ambulatory healthcare centers” run by the Ahu Dhabi Healthcare services organization for well-child visits (SEHA). 38 healthcare facilities are run by Seha around the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Simply follow these instructions to locate a center close by:

– Visit the Seha website – ahs.seha.ae

– From the menu at the top of the screen, select “Our facilities.”

– From the dropdown menu, choose your home city (Abu Dhabi or Al Ain), and then click on “specialty” to choose “Well baby clinic”.

– After that, the website will provide you with details about all the centers you can visit.
