If your UAE residence permit is about to expire or you’re preparing for the future, this is great news for you that residence permit renewals can now be done from the comfort of your home.
The steps are listed in order for the online renewal of your residence visa:
- Register and create an account using UAE PASS or directly log in to smart services in case you already have your account on it.
- Choose the Residence Permit Renewal service.
- Submit an application for ID card renewal.
- Proceed with the payment of a certain fee.
- Hand in your passport to an authorized delivery company.
- And then once all the steps are processed your passport will be labeled with the Residency Permit sticker and then delivered to you through the approved delivery company.
The sponsor must renew his/her residence visa before it expires and a grace period of 30 days to stay in the UAE is given in order to provide enough time for the renewal. The visa has to be renewed within this period in order to avoid incurring fines. As per the UAE immigration’s fines system, the penalty if a person overstays after the expiration of the grace period is:
- AED 25 per day during the first 6 months (180 days)
- AED 50 per day during the second 6 months (180 days)
- AED 100 per day after passing a year and more.
However, if there is a need to renew it a few months earlier, it can easily be renewed two months before its expiry date.
