Are you planning to go for a jog at Jumeirah Beach? Before you start your run, make sure to take note of the new safety signs that have been recently installed to ensure your safety and well-being. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai announced on Thursday, September 19, that they have installed 67 warning boards along the seven-kilometer jogging track at the beach. These signs are meant to provide important safety information for all joggers using the track. So, next time you head out for a run at Jumeirah Beach, keep an eye out for these new signs to help you stay safe during your workout.
What you should not do on Jumeirah Beach’s jogging tracks
Among the new signs, one serves as a reminder to joggers that the track may become slippery when wet. Other important warnings for beachgoers to keep in mind include:
– Pets are not allowed
– Avoid wearing high heels; instead, opt for appropriate footwear to prevent slipping on wet surfaces
– Skateboards are prohibited on the jogging track
– Bicycles and e-scooters are not permitted on the jogging track
– Smoking is prohibited
– Littering is not allowed
– Please refrain from sitting or blocking the jogging track.
Penalties for violations
The RTA has not yet released detailed information regarding fines for breaking these regulations. However, according to Executive Council Resolution No. (13) of 2022, cyclists and e-scooter riders are only permitted to operate in designated zones. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in a fine of Dh200. Additionally, smoking in non-designated areas can result in fines starting at Dh500, with penalties escalating significantly if the individual is smoking near children.
