At Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) 70th online auction, car enthusiasts have four days remaining to place their bids on coveted exotic license plates.
According to RTA, 371 unique three, four, and five-digit number plates for automobiles and motorcycles featuring the letters and numbers (A-B-C-G-H-I-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-Y) are being offered at this year’s sale. On Monday, February 27, at 8 am on the official RTA website, www.rta.ae, the online auction got underway.
However, to participate in the auction, you must first sign up online and fulfill certain conditions. Here are all the details.
Three conditions for the special number plate auction
You must meet three requirements in order to bid in the auction:
- Each bidder is required to possess a Dubai-issued driver’s license or to have a vehicle registered there.
- Pay a 5,000 Dh security deposit.
- Make a 120 Dh non-refundable participation payment.
You can pay the security deposit and participation fee online at www.rta.ae, through the “Dubai Drive” app, or at one of the Customer Happiness Centers located in:
- Umm Ramool
- Deira
- Al Barsha
How to register for the online auction
You can still register for the number plate auction even if it has already started. The following are the steps:
- Go to the RTA website, www.rta.ae, and select “login” from the menu in the top right corner of the page.
- To participate in the online auction, you must either check in using your UAE Pass or have an online account with RTA. If you are a first-time user, you can create an account by providing your email address, phone number, and traffic file number along with a username and password.
- A personal dashboard will be displayed after you log in. Then select the “Auction” category.
- After that, you can watch the live online auction. You must first pay the participation fee and security deposit before you can start bidding, though.
- Next, select “Security Deposit” from the list of “Plate Number Services.” Choose “Register” from the menu.
- Use the payment channel to use a debit or credit card to pay the security deposit. After that, pay the entry charge.
You may now begin placing bids in the online auction after successfully settling the funds and registering.
How does the online auction take place?
You can begin the bidding process for a number plate you want to purchase after signing in by clicking the “bid” button.
The least amount that a client can bid to begin taking part in the auction is Dh1,000, according to the RTA website, www.rta.ae.
When you click on the plate details, you will be able to check if the number plate for which you have placed a bid has gotten a better bid.
What happens after the auction ends?
If you win a number plate, RTA will send you a notification through SMS, and you have 10 days to pay the winning bid at one of the customer care centers in Umm Ramool, Barsha, or Deira.
After making the payment, you may either pick up your new license plate at the RTA customer service center where you made the purchase in person or have it delivered by courier.
The RTA Consumer Happiness Center in Umm Ramool will refund the security check if your bid was unsuccessful.
