You only need to remember one username and password to access more than 10,000 local and federal government services online.
The UAE Pass, which gives users access to a wide range of online services as well as the ability to sign and authenticate documents, serves as the country’s digital identity for citizens, residents, and tourists. The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, and Digital Dubai collaborated to build the app in 2018.
Not only does having a UAE Pass stop you from having several online accounts, but it also saves you time by avoiding the need to register on official websites.
First, create a UAE Pass account
You must first create an account with the UAE Pass app before you can use any of its features.
To register on the app, you must be a citizen or resident of the UAE and possess a current UAE mobile number in addition to a valid Emirates ID.
All you have to do is register using your Emirates ID number and provide identification. Simply register using your Emirates ID number, create a security pin code, and use face recognition to confirm your identity.
You can access five of the app’s features after creating an account:
1. Sign in to any government website or service through a single account
You won’t need to generate several usernames and passwords if you download the UAE Pass app and register an account. The app will serve as your single digital identity and give you access to thousands of services provided by both the federal and municipal governments.
2. Sign all your government documents digitally
You can digitally sign an electronic document on the UAE Pass app.
This eliminates the requirement to physically sign a document at a service centre or government department.
Open the app and select “Sign Document” to use the digital signature feature. Use your phone’s touch screen to sign a document you’ve saved thereby uploading it.
The document will also be available for download as a pdf with your signature on it.
3. Store and share all your official documents in a ‘digital vault’.
You no longer need to save individual image files on your phone and then race to find them when you need them, including copies of your driving licence, COVID-19 vaccination card, tenancy agreement, and Emirates ID card.
The “digital vault” feature of the UAE Pass keeps all of your digital papers in one location and even makes it simple to transfer them digitally with government agencies. This is due to the fact that more government agencies are utilising blockchain technology, which guarantees that a digital document is secure from manipulation and may be filed digitally by the applicant.
On the app’s home screen, select “Add documents” to add a digital document to your phone. then decide which government agency issued the document.
For instance, choose the Federal Authority of Identification, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security for Emirates ID or the Ministry of Interior (MOI) if you want a digital version of your driver’s licence (ICP).
The digital file will then be saved in the “digital vault,” which is accessible through the “Documents” section.
4. Check the authenticity of government documents with ‘UAE Verify’
‘UAE Verify’ can assist you in confirming the validity of any official document you have received in digital forms, such as an entry permit or health-related document. The UAE Pass app offers a feature called UAE Verify, a digital platform that enables fast verification of “Digital Trusted Documents.” The service checks the document’s validity, legitimacy, and authenticity at the official source, which is the government agency that issued it.
You only need to open the app and select “Verify documents” from the home page in order to use the service. After that, the app will ask you to upload the document you want to validate. Once the document has been uploaded, it will be authenticated and even produce a digitally trusted document version that may be sent electronically to other government agencies. A “hash,” which is a special digital code that confirms the document’s contents have not been changed, can be found in a “trusted digital document.”
5. Don’t have an Emirates ID? Tourists can still use the UAE Pass and access government services
Visitors can now utilise the UAE Pass app by confirming their information through other identity documents, even though users still need an Emirates ID to register themselves on the app. They can use their passport or, if they are a citizen or resident of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), their National ID, which can be used to open an account.
