Have you renewed your Emirates ID? Keeping your Etisalat, du, and Virgin Mobile services active

A notification from Virgin Mobile popped up on the cellphone screen, urging the user to update their Emirates ID information associated with the mobile number. The message stressed the importance of completing this process within 60 days to avoid service suspension.

Interestingly, the individual had recently renewed their residency visa and Emirates ID, necessitating updates with both the bank and the telecom provider. Virgin Mobile is not alone in this reminder; other major providers in the UAE, such as Etisalat and Du, have also been prompting their users to ensure their expired Emirates ID details are up to date.

Maintaining a valid Emirates ID is a mandatory requirement set by the UAE Government. Failure to renew could lead to the suspension or disconnection of linked mobile numbers or accounts, as detailed on the official Etisalat website. Users are strongly advised to promptly update their information upon receiving their Emirates ID to prevent any interruptions in service.

To facilitate this process, a comprehensive step-by-step guide on updating Emirates ID information for all three major telecom providers in the UAE – Etisalat, Du, and Virgin – is provided below.

How to update Emirates ID on Etisalat?

Before updating the document, customers are required to have the following: a verified account on the UAE PASS app and a valid Emirates ID on UAE PASS.

Through website

To access the Etisalat website, please log in using UAE PASS.

Navigate to the mobile registration renewal page by selecting it from the My Account menu or by clicking on the Mobile Registration Renewal link located in the quick links section on the homepage.

Next, upload images of the front and back of your Emirates ID.

The system will automatically populate the necessary fields with the ID information. Please review the details for accuracy and then submit the form to finalize the process.

Through mobile app

To enhance your Etisalat UAE experience, we recommend downloading the My Etisalat UAE app.

Once downloaded, simply log in using your username and password or UAE PASS for a seamless experience.

Upon accessing the home screen, you can choose to update your information by tapping on “update now” or navigating to your profile and selecting “update my Emirates ID.”

Next, continue with UAE Pass by selecting the accounts you wish to update. Please note that unselected accounts will be deactivated for security purposes.

After selecting your accounts, proceed by tapping on “Continue with UAE Pass.” An authentication request will then be sent to the UAE Pass app for verification.

To complete the process, accept the request on the UAE Pass app and provide consent for document sharing.

Review the details on the My Etisalat App, ensuring your mobile number and email ID are accurate.

Finally, agree to the terms and conditions before submitting your updated information for a seamless Etisalat experience.

Through outlets

In addition to the methods previously mentioned, individuals have the option to update their Emirates ID information by visiting an Etisalat store or utilizing a payment machine provided by Etisalat. Simply follow the on-screen instructions for a seamless process.

How to update Emirates ID on du?

There are three convenient methods to update your Emirates ID with du. You have the option to update it online through the du website or official du mobile apps, or by visiting a du store in person.

Through website:

To update your Emirates ID, simply click on “Update ID” located on the top-right navigation bar.

Next, enter your login details. If you do not already have an account, you will need to register to create a new one.

Once logged in to your du account, you will be able to view all the numbers associated with your account. Select the number you wish to update your Emirates ID for, and you will receive a verification code.

Enter the code provided and upload a copy of your Emirates ID.

Confirm the details on your Emirates ID and select your number.

Agree to the terms and conditions, then click on “submit.”

Upon completing these steps, you will receive a reference number for your records.

Through app

Verify that your phone is loaded with both the du App and the UAE Pass app.

Make sure the documents are prepared by selecting ‘Add Documents’ on the UAE Pass app. Next, choose “Emirates ID card.” Verify your agreement.

Open the du App after quitting the UAE Pass app.

Choose ‘Update ID’ from the main menu, then choose the number or numbers that need to be updated.

Click “Continue with UAE Pass” after selecting it.

On the UAE Pass app, validate the du App authentication request.

Permit to share documents.

Follow the on-screen directions.

If the update to your Emirates ID is successful, you will be informed within 48 hours.

Through stores

At a du store, you can also update your Emirates ID. Make sure you have all the necessary paperwork, including your passport and Emirates ID card.

How to update your ID on Virgin?

Visit the closest location (kiosks or Virgin Megastore) to update your Emirates ID or passport. Verify your identity, as updating your passport and ID requires your physical presence in the United Arab Emirates.

As of right now, the Virgin mobile app does not have an update option. While there is a section specifically for this use, in the end, it will lead you to a notice telling you to go to a physical store.
